I am involved in the 2009 Garage Sale Challenge run by Gary Hendrikson of The Auction Rebel. He spends $55 and ends up with $625 in sales and I spend $200 and end up with $55 in sales. Something is not right here!
It is definitely worth it to watch what Gary is buying and selling! He has a great little free eBook with a list of books to watch for, and another one that he sells for $10 with a list of magazines that do well on eBay. I have come across a few winners since I have read through both of those. His website TheAuctionRebel.com is a good one to explore for lots of online selling advice.
I have been enjoying reading about how the others in the challenge are doing – but so far Gary has us all beat hands down! There is a chart format that people are using to show sales, expenses and profits – so far I haven’t put mine up because when I start to add it all up it gets kind of depressing to see how few things I have bought are selling. I just keep telling myself there is a learning curve, after all Gary has been buying and selling antiques and collectibles for years!
